CAROC Free Picnic and Concours

Sunday August 4th at Barbara Key Park, Lake in the Hills!
by David Johnson

Our ever popular CAROC picnic will take place on Sunday, August 4th at Barbara Key Park in Lake in the Hills. If you haven't attended before, you'll find us at the small shelter at the end of the park road. The shelter is in a lovely wooded spot next to the parking lot, where we'll have an informal car show. Prizes will be awarded the best cars in several categories, so break out the polish and spiff-up your Alfa for the occasion!

Last year's pig roast was a big hit with everyone, so we have contracted with Billy's to do it again. They slow roast the pig for several hours starting early in the morning before driving it to the park for the final cooking. It smells wonderful, and the meat is so tender it falls apart as it is served. They bring a full selection of delicious sides with them too. Let's just hope they can light the burners without losing any eyebrows this year!
The club is generously providing the food at no charge, and we will have water and soft drinks available in coolers. As before, we have arranged for a liquor license, so you are welcome to bring your own alcoholic beverages. We've always had more than enough food for everyone, but we do prefer to get a head count.

If you plan to come (and why wouldn't you, with free food, fine cars and great company in a beautiful location!), please RSVP to Barb or Tony:
Barb Carroll: (815) 675-2309 or email alfalover@rsg.org
Tony Cavaliere: (847) 687-5836 or email acavaliere@mail.com

The park includes basketball and volleyball courts, a playground for the kids and offers walks around the lake through an interesting natural glen area. We have the shelter from sunrise to sunset so bring the whole family for a great day out! Food will be served starting at 1 PM.
Pique-nique!

As I write this, it is 102 degrees in the shade here in the new sunbelt city of Mount Prospect. Yeah, but it's a dry heat, right? It is until we get some rain. However, the forecast for the day of the picnic is sunny and 78 - I just know it! Perfect for a drive through the countryside to break bread and bar-b-que with fellow Alfisti and Alfista. Bring some adult beverages, if you imbibe, your Alfa, and a buddy This is where you get your dues back!
Bocce, anyone?
Excuse my French - I've been looking for a Citroen.
Bonjour!
