Picnic and Concours
at Barbara Key Park, Lake in the Hills
1:00 pm, Sun. July 25th, 2010
Last year’s revival of the traditional club picnic was a great success, and we are looking forward to a repeat of the event this year. The date is Sunday July 25th and we are keeping the location the same since it worked so well for us last summer.
Barbara Key Park is a beautiful area just outside Lake-in-the-Hills, with plenty of shade trees and its own small lake. The park includes a natural fen with some unique geographic features. It is also well equipped with basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoes and a playground for the kids. It is a small park with only two shelters, and we have booked the one at the far end next to the parking area so the food and cars will all be close by.
Food will be catered, and this year there will be a nominal charge per person. We are working on the menu details but it will be decent quality with enough variety to suit pretty much anyone. Non-alcoholic beverages like sodas, juice and bottled water will be provided free by the club. We have once again acquired a liquor license for our shelter so you are welcome to bring your own beer, wine or other fortified beverages. Of course, we ask that you drink responsibly, especially if you will be driving.

In addition to the picnic, there will also be a concours. There will be awards for the best cars in several categories. It doesn’t matter whether you have a ‘trailer queen’ or a daily driver, there will be a suitable class for everyone, and every car has the chance at winning an award. We also plan a repeat of the ‘guess the Alfa’ photo competition, so if you know your Alfas and Alfa history this is another chance to win a prize!
We could use a few volunteers to assist in putting the event together and to keep things running smoothly on the day, so please let us know if you can assist. We can use people to help with the food, put together the awards and to organize and judge the concours. If you would like to help out, please get in touch with Dave Johnson by phone or email:

The club picnic has always been a great opportunity to eat and drink and just plain hang out and chat around our cars. We hope to see even more of you and your Alfas at the event this year!
