Blackhawk Farms Raceway Drivers Education and Lapping Day

CAROC Presents
The 2025 AROC Convention Drivers Education and Lapping Day
Blackhawk Farms Raceway
Friday, September 19th, 2025

The Chicago Alfa Romeo Owners Club invites you to participate in the 2025 AROC Convention Drivers Education and Lapping Day at Blackhawk Farms on Friday, September 19th, 2025.

In an effort to improve the already great event that we have planned for you, we are changing the format of our “time trial” event to a “Drivers Education and Lapping Day” event. Instead of sending cars out for 3 laps at a time, we’ve switched it to open lapping sessions. There will still be 3 groups of cars based on experience and performance of the vehicle. These groups will go out separately, so that no one gets intimidated by the faster cars. There will be multiple sessions throughout the day. This way you don’t overwork your car like you would if it were one long session. The novice group will still be attending a classroom drivers training before being able to go on the track. The classroom training could prove to be beneficial to the more experienced drivers, that are not familiar with the Blackhawk Farms Raceway. All drivers will abide by our standard track day safety rules. There will be limited passing in designated areas when the passing driver is flagged by. The vehicles will still have to be teched by the participants to make sure they are safe. This all sounds like typical track event stuff. Here’s where we are improving it. If you don’t want to know any lap times , you don’t have to do anything more. You can go out and just enjoy the track. If you would like to be timed, we asked that you get an app for your phone that will be able to time you. This will help you in several ways. You’ve come along way to get on the track. We want to give you as much track time as humanly possible. Doing this will allow us to leave the cars out on the track for the entire session for your group. For trophy purposes the cars will be classed according to the AROC rules. If there are no off course excursions, we are hoping to get up to 2 hours of on track time for you. We may even be able to extend the parade laps as well. Once you’ve determined your fastest time, just show it to our score keepers and it will be recorded for prosperity. (No! You can’t pay Mike Besic to record a fast lap in your car!!!) Another benefit is these apps record a lot of information that you can review to improve your times as the day goes on.( so you may not even need to tempt him)

Registration and tech inspection will begin at 7AM.

The format will be lapping sessions in the morning and afternoon. Touring will be at noon.
Each session driver will be released individually in staggered fashion about 10 seconds apart. Each session will last for 25 minutes.
On track activities will wrap up at 6PM.

  • There will be a touring session at noon. The noon touring session will run for approximately 45 minutes and is open to our event volunteers and paid participants.
  • On track activities will wrap up at 6pm.

For the 2025 Convention the driver gets the award not the car. The cars are all classed and the driver is placed in a run group that fits their experience. We will line them up based on historical lap times so we can run as many cars in a group as possible without interference from the car in front of them. Corner workers will keep an eye on this for a potential rerun.
Each driver that enters the time trial must be a paid registrant. ONLY paid Time Trial registrants are eligible for awards. To register the driver MUST be a member of AROC. A skilled friend driving another driver’s registered car is not considered eligible for the time trial. Every driver is provided a specific wristband at registration and checked at grid; so we have simple safeguards to prohibit “ringers”.
